Nilmandra is American, and writes solely for Lord of the Rings. She has been writing fanfiction since Christmas of 2002, mostly book-verse gap-fillers for Tolkien's works. Her stories, which predominantly feature Elves, are posted on fanfiction.net, Stories of Arda (where she is a moderator), and on Silver Tree. Her History Lessons series has won awards from The Mithril Awards, the MEFA awards and My Precious Awards.  The movies provided images of costumes and places that helped bring Middle-earth to life, but her first love will always be the books. Elrond is her favorite character, the only one to appear in The Silmarillion, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. She especially loves writing Elrond and Celebrian together, since the long lives of the Elves leave much room for speculation; and Aragorn, the epitome of perseverance. Of the hobbits, she loves Bilbo the most. Frodo is much more tragic, and her interest in him lies post-quest.

Her Mirkwood series is about the young Legolas from birth to his journey to Valinor. Sometimes the two series overlap. Nilmandra is friends with many of the finest Tolkien fanfiction writers, and her stories are usually beta-ed by Daw the Minstrel, whose characters she occasionally borrows.
